This is a story from Be My Eyes. My name is Gil, and I'm from Israel, and I'm almost blind, not totally. I heard about Be My Eyes from my brother, who was looking for applications that can make my life easier. I use Be My Eyes almost every day for different things, like reading directions, bills, mail and finding things, because I live alone and sometimes I can't find things. So, I call Be My Eyes, and I don't have to wait for somebody to come or direct me. I always get volunteers immediately, sometimes less than 1 minute and somebody's on the line, and they are very happy to help. Sometimes, it makes the days better. So, it's nice to have solidarity between human beings. I use other apps, but not including talking to people. Be My Eyes is different from the other apps I use, because it's much better in the sense that I talk with somebody and I can ask them questions, and he actually is my eyes for this moment. The interaction with another person is very important. In the beginning, I hesitated a little bit, but after I understood it, I feel free to do it - even for the small things. If I have to wait one hour for somebody to come to read me a letter, I don't hesitate. I open Be My Eyes, I call somebody, and it's a great help for me. I had one call where a woman answered me, and I heard a noise, somebody singing, so I couldn't hear her very well. She told me: 'I'm an actress, I'm in the middle of rehearsal.' So I told her: 'OK, OK, I'll call somebody else.' 'No, no, no, no. It's OK, it's OK.', and she got outside and helped me. Yeah, people are always willing and helpful. This was a Be My Eyes story.
